Salsa is the reflection of many social phenomena. There has not been any society that does not have some type of rhythm in which its culture is represented. “This is the human organization of sound” according to sociologist and musicologist Ángel Quintero Rivera. In “Salsa Picante” I express the relationship and identification between Barrio Chalaco and this musical genre.

This complex mestizo genre, which combines the richness of the Western musical trajectory fused with the African heritage, makes the Chalaco people vibrate, since, although the word “salsa” houses a variety of rhythms from different countries, its authenticity It's in the neighborhood.

Thus, salsa dura is the song that tells of the social problems of the street: discrimination, violence, crime, drugs, love and death; situations that are experienced in a neighborhood this complex. In everyday rumba, people's enjoyment of the content of the song lyrics seems contradictory. However, it is in the downloads where awareness is made, accepting the bitterness in existence with a lot of “sugar” and thus being able to digest the harsh everyday life.

My proposal is to capture the dynamics of the downloads, where you can observe the beautiful language that generates the constant communication between the spontaneity of the bodies possessed by the rhythm, a synchronization and almost fusion of them releasing themselves with identity in space.
